The recent birthing season leads to an abundance of innocent newborn prey, again the predators take full advantage of this.
Vegetation is green and lush, the thick bush is challenging, but by now a few game paths and favorite water spots are becoming established.
This is a good time to visit for photographers looking for beautiful landscapes and baby animals. Birders will also find many migratory birds, some preparing for long journeys north.

Birds migrate North signalling the end of the wet season and this time of plenty. Some watering holes are a water bird bonanza as they drop.

A highlight for all not only birders, the Carmine Bee eaters are nesting now. The Luangwa river banks are some of the best places in Africa to see these beautiful birds.

Temperatures are at their hottest, with humidity reaching an all year high before the fall of the first rains, usually towards the end of the month.
Game viewing is prime for most of October, times are desperate and its survival of the fittest in the Luangwa bush.
The arrival of the first rains may come towards the end of the month. There is a sudden eruption of lush green grass contrasting dry bush of a few days ago. The rejuvenated bush and particularly new grass shoots make game viewing very productive.
If you don’t mind the heat, this is a great time to visit with tourist numbers dropping and often interesting sightings.
November

Temperatures are hot and humid for the first half of November, becoming less intense with the increase of rain throughout the month.
Game viewing is still excellent with few animals leaving the area until sufficient rains have fallen. The rejuvenated patches where rain has fallen attract a lot of prey species.
The arrival of the rains sees a spike in the insect numbers, so have your repellent handy.
The Carmine Bee eaters are still nesting and other species of birds are beginning to arrive.
